Scientists Forge New Metric to Quantify Plastic's Harm to Marine Life
Researchers have developed a 'global effect factor', a new universal metric to precisely quantify the harm plastic ingestion causes to marine mammals, seabirds, and sea turtles. This breakthrough provides a standardised way to include the physical impacts of plastic in formal Life Cycle Assessments, allowing it to be weighed against other environmental threats.
