The Cold Water Express: How Copepod Waste Sinks Carbon
Researchers investigating the Yellow Sea Cold Water Mass found that it acts as an efficient conduit for burying carbon. Although there is less copepod waste inside this cold zone, the pellets sink rapidly, bypassing surface retention to store carbon deep in the ocean.
